Andre "Joe" Poirier, 85, of Claremont, NH, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024 at Sullivan County Health Care in Unity, NH surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 7, 1938, in Claremont, NH, to the late Rezeda and Ovilo Poirier. Joe graduated from St. Mary's School and then proudly served as a Corpsman in the United States Navy until 1967. He served during the Vietnam War and then lived in Providence, Rhode Island where he worked at Roger Williams Medical Center as an X-ray Technician. After returning to Claremont, NH, he owned Mo-Jo's Beverages, J & M Realty, and Lookers Realty. Joe was also a member of the Elks and American Legion Club in Claremont.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time hunting, fishing, traveling to beaches in Maine, or just working on his property. He loved playing cards with friends, as well as cribbage with his son in law.

Along with his wife Nancy Poirier of Claremont, he leaves behind four children, Selena Williams and husband Bill of Sparks, NV, Diane Friend and husband Michael of Claremont, NH, Michael Poirier and wife Kimberly of Plainfield, NH, and Suzanne Smith and husband Mark of White River Junction, VT, as well as four step children, Carrie Davis and husband Rob of Wells, ME, David Cotrupi and Stacy Roberts of West Lebanon, NH, Stephen Cotrupi and wife Maureen of Amesbury, Ma, and Wendy Moran and husband Chris of Cumberland, RI, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He leaves one brother, Philip Poirier, Wells River, Vt and is preceded in death by his siblings Laurier Poirier, Fleurette Witaliz, Jeanne George, Yolande Cleary, and Evette Poisson.

Although his last few years were difficult as he struggled with his health, he maintained a positive attitude and fought through it with grace and dignity. Those he loved and others that he came in contact with him would describe Joe as gentle, kind, and always smiling. His infectious smile would enlighten those around him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the kind, skilled, and compassionate caregivers at Sullivan County Health Care Facility.

VISITING HOURS will be held in the STRINGER FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, at 146 Broad St. Claremont, NH on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 10:30-11:30am with a short service to follow. Guests are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the Elks Lodge at 54 Summer St., Claremont from 12:30-3:30.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory can be made to the Sullivan County Health Care in care of the MacConnell Alzheimers Dementia Care Unit.
