Andrew “Andy” Bailey was born to Wayland and Pauline Bailey of Claremont, New Hampshire, on July 27, 1949. Andy enjoyed reminiscing about his childhood adventures walking to and from his grandmother’s house. He was always happiest outdoors in nature, whether scuba diving in local ponds and lakes or spending time with his animals. A true New Englander, he was tough, stubborn, and direct.
After finishing school in the 9th grade, Andy went to work in the paper mills, as did many young men of his generation. In 1968, he was drafted into the US Marine Corps and completed boot camp at Parris Island. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home, he went to work for LaValley’s Building Supply as a forklift operator and truck driver. In 1972, Andy married his first wife, Cheryl Bianchi, and they had two sons, Andrew Jr. and Russell. In 1989, Andy met Tammy Peebles while working at LaValley’s. At the time, they were both divorced with two children each, but they successfully blended their families and grew together. It takes a special kind of person to love and accept someone else’s children as their own, and Andy was exactly that person for Chris and Jodie. On November 29, 1989, Tammy and Andy were married. They lived on the Bailey family farm until Andy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In 2007, they built their dream home right next to the family farm, designed to be more accessible for Andy as his disease progressed. Andy retired from LaValley’s in 2007 due to complications from Parkinson's. He then spent his time maintaining his property, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. In 2016, Andy was in a four-wheel accident that damaged his spine and left him using a wheelchair. Despite the difficulty and pain, Andy remained a remarkably tough New Englander. He leaves behind his loving wife, Tammy; his sons, Andrew Jr. (Patricia), Russell (Beth), and Chris (Stephanie); his daughter, Jodie (Dominic); his sister, Debbie (Joe); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 19th at 11AM at the West Claremont Burial Grounds on Plains Road in Claremont, NH.
