Barbara Grace Hayes, 73, died peacefully at home on February 27, 2024. She was born June 4, 1950, to Robert (Bob) and Shirley (Robitille) Hayes. She was a lifelong resident of Charlestown and attended Fall Mountain Regional High School and Claremont VoTech. Barbara worked at Valley Family Physicians for several years, as well as LaCrosse Footwear, Valley Regional Hospital, and Springfield Hospital in the medical billing departments. She had also worked briefly at Kmart in layaway on Friday nights, where she was affectionately known as Friday Night Barb.

Barbara had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching Jeopardy!, and spending time with family. Barbara loved her family deeply. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her people. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, and GG. Her great-grandbabies were her pride and joy; she loved singing and playing with them. Barbara also greatly loved her furry little companion Chloe, who followed Barbara to Heaven just days later.

Barbara is survived by her only daughter Jamie (Hayes) Baker, three grandchildren; Aidan Hayes and his wife Sarah, Taryn Gaiotti and her husband Andrew, Tyra Olmstead and her partner Jacob Baker, seven great-grandchildren; Kendall, Maddox, Elliott, Benjamin, Samuel, Aspyn, and Sutton. A sister Rose Hayes, a niece Tina (Stack) Dobbert, and a nephew Robert Stack.

She is predeceased by her parents, Bob and Shirley, her sister Paula Stack, her grandson Timothy Olmstead, and her son-in-law, Brad Baker.

A graveside service will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown on May 4th at 11 AM.

In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlestown Fire Department, who always treated her with great care and kindness.
