Betty M. (McGowan) Blake, 93, of Newport, NH died on Wednesday, March 12, 2024, at Woodlawn Care Center, in Newport, NH. Betty was born in Amsden, Vermont on September 24, 1930, the daughter of Roy and Onda McGowan. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Al, who passed away on Veteran's Day in 2020, one brother, Roy Jr, and two sisters, Shirley, and Pat. Betty is survived by her sister, Geraldine McGray of Newport, NH.

On November 24, 1950, she married Albert C. Blake of Claremont, NH and this year would have marked their 74th wedding anniversary. They resided in Claremont for many years until her husband retired and they began spending winters in Kissimmee, FL and summers at beloved cottage home on Lake Sunapee. After winterizing the cottage, they lived year-round on the lake, enjoying the winter and summer activities on the Lake and Mt. Sunapee with their daughter, Deborah (Blake) Bourgoine, of Cape Neddick ME, her husband Mike and the two grandchildren, Derek and Ian. In the summers, there were many family get togethers for swimming and water skiing, lobster and clam dinners with her numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters.

Betty attended Towle High School in Newport, NH, and a member of Mary's Parish in Claremont and worked part-time in the family business, Ultra- Precision Products.

Betty and husband Al loved to travel and, in their retirement years spent many days sightseeing and visiting relatives, throughout New England, Canada and on a memorable trip to Ireland and Scotland to visit truly distant relatives.

She loved to read, cook and lovingly dote on the grandkids in their growing up years, especially for the holidays.

A private service for immediate family will be held.
