It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chris Allan Thompson, on Thursday, June 5th, 2025 surrounded by his immediate family in Sunapee, NH.  Chris had just turned 74 and showed tremendous strength during his lengthy battle with cancer.  Chris touched the lives of all who knew him with his warm spirit, unwavering dedication, and passion for life.  We will miss him tremendously.

Chris was born in Ravenna, Ohio and graduated high school in Windsor, Vermont.   After attending the National School of Meat Cutting he married Darlene Vivian and had two children, Melissa and Christopher.  Chris spent most of his working years as either a meat manager or instrumentation engineer and retired in 2013.

Chris is survived by his loving wife of 53 years,  Darlene,  and is predeceased in death, by his parents Elizabeth and Perry,  and In-Laws Gladys Lee and Charles Vivian.  He is survived by his cherished children, Melissa Barnett, and her husband Perry; and Christopher Thompson, and his wife, Catherine. He adored his grandchildren, Julia Blackburn, Emma Thompson-Stone, Ava and Aidan McNamara and Sarah Nichols along with several great grandchildren, Lilly, Parker and William.  Chris had a profound love for his family and took great pride in being a devoted father and papa.

He is also survived by relatives that greatly supported our recent need:  Brother Nathan Thompson, Sister Judy Shepherd, BIL's Charles, Richard,  and Michael Vivian. Too many important family and friends throughout his life to name all of whom were touched by his humor and warm demeanor.

Throughout his life, Chris was known for his work ethic and diverse "jack-of-all-trades" skills.  He dedicated many years as a butcher, musician, carpenter, engineer, and store owner, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. His love for music started at an early age of 12 when he played in bands and continued to play throughout his life. His hands were always busy, whether in the garage, on the land, tickling the ivory's on his keyboard, boating on lakes and seas, building homes, playing pickleball or tending to family projects, reflecting his passion for friends and family or being in nature.

Chris found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as eating sweet treats, camping, boating,  family gathering's, playing with his  bandmates, and caring for his many loyal companion animals over the years. These activities not only brought him happiness but also served as cherished moments shared with family and friends.

Chris's life was characterized by his deep love for family, his dedication to his trades, and his passion for the outdoors. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter,  and love, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the fortune to know him.

As we celebrate the life of Chris Thompson, we remember a man who made a lasting impact on many lives. His warmth, humor, kindness, and winning smile will forever remain in our hearts as we honor his memory. Services will be held at  Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont, NH on Thursday, June 12th.  There will be a visiting hour from 1 to 2 pm followed by a service immediately thereafter at Stringers.  Graveside will follow concurrent with refreshments being provided at Trinity church.
