Douglas Keith Murray, 79, of Laconia, NH died Friday evening August 18, 2023 at the Taylor Community. He was born on September 13, 1943, the son of Clayton Albert Murray Jr. and Anita Mae Leckner of Claremont, NH. He attended Claremont schools and graduated from Stevens High School in 1962. He joined the Air Force serving from 1962 to 1966. During these years he was stationed in California at Mather Air Force Base and Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana.

During this time, he met his wife, Carolyn Leap in Great Falls and married on September 4th, 1965. They lived in Great Falls until his discharge in June 1966. For employment, he worked at Holsom Bakery for a few months and then became employed by United Parcel Service and this became his lifelong career working there for 30 years. While working at UPS, he worked in Littleton, NH and Manchester, NH in package delivery, feeder and air departments. They lived in Windham, NH for 30 years. He received early retirement in June 1995.

He and his wife, Carolyn spent much time traveling with their RV, living in Florida for five years and moving back to NH where they spent the rest of their retirement.

Doug is survived by his wife, Carolyn and three children, Brent & wife Denise of Raymond, NH, Keith & wife Debbie of Strafford, and their daughter, Vanessa & husband, Shawn Roderick of N. Andover, MA. There are four grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter, and Hadlea of Strafford, NH and Brody McGratty of N. Andover, MA.

His surviving siblings are Elizabeth Gierko of Claremont, NH, Gail Patten of Lebanon, NH, Glennora Bennett of Newport, NH and Jack Murray of Claremont, NH. His deceased sisters are Margaret (Peggy) Murray, Shirley Decoteau, Sheila McKinney, Joan Murray, Vicky Goodhue and deceased brothers are Jerry Murray and Robert Murray.

Visiting hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Saturday, August 26th from 1 to 3 PM.
