Elizabeth "Betty" Reavis, 90, a longtime resident of Charlestown passed away after a short illness on Sunday, February 19, 2023.

She was born in Keene, NH on October 26, 1932, the daughter of Rena M. and George E. Kingsbury. She was a graduate of Keene High School.

On September 27, 1952, she married James D. Reavis, who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by her parents, her brothers, George Jr., Charles and Paul.

She is survived by her son, Michael Reavis of Charlestown; her daughter, Maureen Reed and her husband, Larry of Claremont; grandsons, Christopher Reed of Sante Fe, NM and Jonathan Reed of Weathersfield, VT; 7 great grandchildren, Emilee, Nowell, Odin, Colby, Jacob, Autumn and Aiva; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty always enjoyed helping others and volunteered for many organizations throughout the years. She was a 50-year active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a 4-H Leader for 40 years, a founding leader for the Hemlock Hi-Toppers 4-H club, was active in county, state and national events. She was a yearly fixture at the Cornish Fair 4-H dairy booth. She volunteered in the activity department at the Sullivan County Nursing Home for 41 years, many years at the 'Up Attic" thrift shop at the Congregational Church, and the Charlestown area Christmas Fund.

Betty and Jim received the "Service Above Self" award from the Charlestown Rotary. Betty received the Joseph P. Vaughn NH Volunteer award in 2002, presented to her by the governor, Jeanne Shaheen.

Her greatest joy was being around family and friends. She also liked to read, do jigsaw puzzles, watch the birds at her feeders, take pictures and watching Wheel of Fortune.

Visiting hours will be held at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street, on Monday, February 27 ^th from 12:30 – 2PM with a service to follow at 2PM. Burial will be in the spring.
