George (Chubby) Blake, 84 of Claremont, NH, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025 with his daughter, Laura Blake at his side.  Born on June 18, 1941 in Claremont, he left school at the age of 12 to support his mother Minnie after his father George passed away.  Chubby worked as a mechanic his whole life with a passion for building race cars in his spare time and working on cars all the way up to Nascar level.  Later in his own shop, he would work on restoring and rebuilding classic cars and hot rods, with his 68 Ford convertible and T-bucket as his favorites.

He enjoyed "Holding Court" in his shop surrounded by friends, telling stories and just BS-ing.  He would still go to the races almost every week.

Chubby was predeceased by his longtime partner Natalie Mitchell, his son, David Blake, and his sisters Millie Blake, Lillian Hull, Annie Wilson, and Dot Johnson.

He will be greatly missed by surviving family members, daughter Laura Blake, stepsons Brian Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, stepdaughter Cheryl Mitchell Aubin.

Also his six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

Viewing will be Friday September 12th at Stringers Funeral Home in Claremont from 5 to 7 PM.

Service will be on Saturday the 13th at 11 AM followed by burial at Mt. View Cemetery   An informal Celebration of Life will follow at a location TBD
