Joanne Smith Schnyer, born October 31, 1943 passed away peacefully at her home in Claremont, NH on September 10, 2025.

Born in St. Johnsbury, VT she was the only child to Howard and Addie (Pepin) Smith.

Joanne graduated from Stevens High School in the Class of 61 and was a proud alumni member.

She was married to Douglas Schnyer and raised 2 children, Sarah (Scott) Decker and Bradley Schnyer.

She spent her working years as a teacher's aide at Maple Avenue School and later at Tambrands/P&G in Claremont. She was always an active and busy person but once she retired, she was almost never home.  She absolutely loved her friends and filled her days with water exercise, walking at the community center, playing mahjong at a rotating house schedule or shooting pool, playing bingo, etc. at the senior center.

She was deeply loved by her family especially her grandchildren, Laura (Jenna) Maki, Andrew Maki and Samantha Crow, Julia (Molly) Maki, Craig Lafountain-Schnyer and Lillian Snyder and Nickolas Schnyer.  Great grandchildren, Hendrix, Charlie, and Theodore Maki, also step granddaughter, Bethany Decker and Brent Ackley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son in law, Adam Maki.

Per her wishes there will be no service.  Her immediate family will celebrate her life at a later date.  In Lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory could be made to a charity of ones choosing.

Joanne was a very selfless person and a wonderful role model to her family and beyond.
