John Richard DeCook CLAREMONT – April 3, 2022, John (fondly known as Johnny) passed away unexpectedly at age 52 at his home. He was born in Claremont in 1969 to parents John A. DeCook and his wife Elizabeth.

He graduated from Steven's High School in 1988 and later graduated from the Stratham Technical College with an Associates Degree in Computerized Automotive Technology in 1992.

John had a short career at Lambert's Auto in Claremont, NH until he later followed in the family business joining John DeCook Watchmaker and Jeweler as the third generation of John DeCooks to work at the company. He used his amazing, detailed talent to design handmade, custom jewelry.

He was predecessed by his Grandparents John W. and Grace DeCook of Claremont, Richard and Rachel (Doris) McCusker of Charlestown, his father John A. DeCook of Newport.

He is survived by his wife Sharlene, her daughter Brandy of Newport, NH. He is also survived by his mother Elizabeth McCusker of Rutland, VT, sisters Amanda DeCook of Weare, NH and her two sons Joel Victor and Ryan John, sister Sara Gagnon and her son Ezio of Newport, NH. John also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and their children.

His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. He was an avid sports fan, even attending the Patriots Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1986.  Billiards was another passion of his which landed him winning a local pool tournament where he traveled to compete nationally at the USA Pool League National Championships in Las Vegas, NV, in 2005.

Everyone who knew him, loved him. They loved him for his kind and gentle soul, his loyalty and true compassion. He leaves behind his beloved kitties, Butt Butt and Patches.

A small graveside service at Union Cemetery will be held in the near future for family and close friends.
