Joseph Albert Hitchcock, age 82 of Claremont NH passed away peacefully among loved ones, Monday 19, 2025 at the White River Junction VA.

Born October 10, 1942 in Newport NH to the late Richard and Phyllis (Hoyt) Hitchcock.  He graduated from the Newport High and then went on to spend four years with The US Air Force as a C130 Maintenance Mechanic.  Joe was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Greenough whom he married June 8th, 1968 and had two children.  Joe worked for the State of Vermont before a career with Bryant Grinder in Springfield, VT as a computer programmer.  Joe enjoyed helping people in any way that he could.  He was a problem solver and loved to tinker.  He enjoyed woodworking and spending time in his vegetable garden.  He had a passion for airplanes and old cars.  He loved his 1964 ½ Ford Mustang and was proud of his work restoring his blue Oldsmobile Cutlass. He spent many years square dancing with his wife and members of the Circle Eight Square Dance Club of which he also served as president for a period of time.

Joe is survived by his son Richard (Brooke) Hitchcock, daughter Lisa (Mike) Krause, granddaughter Molly Krause and several nieces and nephews.  Per Joe's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.  A burial service will be held at a future date at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
