Karen S. Benoit (Godfrey) died after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on November 3, 2024.

Karen was born on July 9, 1960, born to Clara Walden and Arthur Godfrey; and was later adopted by Florence Clifton and her husband, Earle Clifton.

Karen married Michael Benoit on September 7, 1985.

Karen is survived by her husband, Michael Benoit; her children, Michael Benoit II, Amanda Benoit and her fiancé, Aaron Bunker, and Kimberly Benoit. She had one granddaughter, Gabriella Benoit. She has many adopted children and grandchildren that she loved as her own.

Her surviving sisters include, Josephine Shumway of Waterbury, Vermont; Florence Keating of Essex Junction, Vermont; Ramona Godfrey of Waterbury Center, Vermont, and brother, Frank E. Godfrey of Fairlee, Vermont. She had multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and an aunt to many. Her surviving nieces, Stephanie Eastman, Jolene Godfrey, and many more.

She worked over the years at Big Lots and Wal-Mart; until her illness made it to hard to continue. She loved to crochet things for her family and friends.

She loved visiting with family and friends. She always gave the best advice and listened without judgement, even though us kids could be a handful. She would say that she had multiple children, because all of our friends called her mom. She enjoyed, when she was able, to get out to do something fun and watching WWE to see Shawn Michaels. She enjoyed listening to Kenny Rogers. She loved purple.

We will forever be grateful for Valley Regional Hospital's nurses and doctors for their dedication on her final day.

We are appreciative of Portsmouth Hospital that gave us the last two years, including the multiple visits with Valley Regional Hospital, DHMC & DHMC Cancer Center & Palliative Care, Elmwood Center in Claremont, Golden Cross Ambulance, Visiting Nurses (VNH).

She was predeceased by her parents, Clara Walden and Arthur Godfrey, Florence Clifton and Earle Clifton, her sisters, Shirley Godfrey and Judy Smith, and brothers, Arthur Godfrey III, Carl Godfrey, and Fred Godfrey.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 14th at 6PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH with calling hours from 5 to 6 prior to the service.
