Kathryn R Mitchell, died on September 2, 2024, peacefully at home.  She was born on December 13, 1950, in Springfield, VT, the daughter of Mary (McMahon) Royce and Ernest "Skeet" Royce.

Kathryn graduated from Keene State College in 1972 with a degree in Spanish.  Following graduation she married her best friend Joseph Mitchell, Jr.  on her birthday in 1975 and they settled in Springfield, VT.  They moved to Virginia in 1986 and back to Charlestown, NH in 2013.  She worked as a medical transcriptionist with various medical professionals and hospitals in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maryland and Virginia until she retired.  In retirement, she was the director at the Charlestown Senior Center.  She enjoyed gardening, going for walks around the neighborhood, playing with her cats, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother John Royce (wife Nancy).  Surviving in addition to her husband, Joseph Mitchell are her daughter Diana (Mitchell) Hiltbrand and son-in-law Christopher Hiltbrand and two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Robert; her brothers William Royce (partner Louise), James Royce (wife Karen), and Tom Royce; her sister Maryalice Sosnoski (husband Dave); and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11am September 14, graveside at Pine Crest Cemetery, Charlestown.  Those who wish to remember Kathy in a special way may donate in her memory to the Charlestown Senior Center at 223 Old Springfield Rd, Charlestown, NH 03603.
