Kendall Putney Packard, 84, of Claremont, NH, AKA - Kenny, Ken, Dad, Bumpa, Dad P,  Mr P, Mr Packard and Bumpa Ken, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan 15th, with family by his side.
He was born on April 17, 1939, the son of James L. and Lucille M (Putney) Packard.  He lived in Claremont all his life.  He attended Claremont Schools and graduated from Stevens High in 1957.  He was a member of the Stevens Chorus, Orchestra and Band for 4 years.  As being a member of the Stevens Marching band, he was able to participate in playing and marching in Washington, DC, for President Eisenhower's inauguration in 1957.  He was also a member of the Steven track team his junior and senior years, in which he held the 100-yard dash record (10.0 seconds), for 55 years, until it was broken by a Steven's Junior in 2012.  That was Dad's best day ever, to pass the "record-holding" torch.
He worked at Gloenco, Newport, for many years before semi-retiring and working part-time at Colby Sawyer College in New London, NH.  After that, he fully retired and spent time helping to raise and mentor his 2 grandchildren.
From 1967 to 1977, he was a call fireman for the Claremont Fire Department, putting his life on the line to save and protect citizens of Claremont.  When the call came in, he would be seen buzzing down the road in his White 1971 Volkswagen "Bug", blaring a wailing high-pitched siren, that his teen-aged son had installed.
In retirement he enjoyed being with his wife & family, neighborhood friends, traveling, camping, hunting, shooting, motorcycle riding, grilling and feeding the neighborhood squirrels, birds and chipmunks.
He is survived by his children, son, Stuart D. Packard of Claremont; two daughters, Wendy J. Luck and her husband, Robert of Newport, and Shelby Lowery and her husband, Robbie of Charlestown.  He is also survived by his grandson, Joshua Kendall Luck and his wife Rae, of Sunapee NH.... Oh, and not forgetting...the many fur, feathered, scaly, and fuzzy 2 & 4-legged Great-Grand babies.
He is predeceased by his parents, wife of 60 years, Jean (Robinson) Packard, and granddaughter Scotlynn Silfies.
Per Ken's wishes, there are to be no services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Claremont Soup Kitchen.
