Linda Marion Brools Landry

Linda Marion Brooks Landry, 79, entered the Lord’s Kingdom on October 20, 2026, at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, New Hampshire. She was born in Claremont on June 9, 1947, to the late Rena (Lamprey) Brooks and Clinton Brooks.

Linda married her beloved husband, James Francis Landry, on July 5, 1969. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their two children in Claremont: their son, James F. “Jamie” Landry, Jr., and their daughter, Karen “Karie” Landry Neville.

A devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Claremont, Linda sang in the church choir for many years. Her faith and love of music were deeply important parts of her life. She also played the flute in a flute choir, inspiring her daughter Karie to learn the flute and nurturing her daughter’s lifelong love of singing.

Linda dedicated much of her life to education. She graduated from Keene State College in 1969 and later earned her Master’s Degree in Education from the same institution. She taught kindergarten and second grade in Claremont for many years before taking nine years away from teaching to raise her two children. She eventually returned to the classroom, teaching eighth-grade mathematics to middle school students. Of all her years in education, Linda often said that her favorite was the year she had the special opportunity to teach her children Jamie and Karie when they were in the second grade.

Linda was a friend to everyone she met. Her door was always open, and she loved to entertain and bring people together. She had so much love to share and a remarkable ability to make everyone’s day a little brighter. She never wanted anyone to feel alone, forgotten, or left out. Her kindness, warmth, and generosity touched countless lives.

Linda never forgot a birthday or a special holiday. You could never find a more generous soul. She was the very best gift-giver and took tremendous joy in finding just the right present for someone she deeply cared for. Often, she was so excited about a gift that she simply couldn’t wait to tell you she had found something you were going to love.

And no birthday was ever truly complete without a phone call from Linda, enthusiastically singing several bars of “Happy Birthday” as loudly as she could. It was a beloved tradition that brought smiles and laughter to family and friends year after year. Somehow, it just wasn’t officially your birthday until you received that special phone call from Linda.

Affectionately known as “Nana” to her four granddaughters, Linda logged countless miles over the years attending concerts, musicals, and performances featuring her children and grandchildren. There was something truly special about being on stage and knowing Linda was in the audience, or sitting alongside her during a show or concert that she and Jimmy had traveled to see, especially at Bethel High School in Connecticut.

Her presence made those occasions even more memorable. She was always so proud, so supportive, and so genuinely delighted to share in the accomplishments and happiness of those she loved.

Linda had an almost inexplicable, magical way of making everyone around her feel special, valued, and loved. Whether you had known her for a lifetime or had only recently met her, she welcomed you with the same warmth and affection.

To Linda, a friend was family, and family were friends.

That simple sentiment reflected the way she lived her life. Her friendships were treasured, her generosity was boundless, and the love she gave so freely will remain with everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, James Francis Landry, Sr.; her son, James F. “Jamie” Landry, Jr., and his wife, Monica (Kennett) Landry, and their daughters, Kameryn and Haley Landry, of Claremont, New Hampshire; and her daughter, Karen “Karie” Landry Neville, and her husband, Christopher Neville, and their twin daughters, Charlotte and Noelle Neville, of Bethel, Connecticut.

She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Brooks, and his wife, Lise Brooks, of Concord, New Hampshire; their children, Debbie and her husband, Al Dargie, and their children, Samantha and Christina; and Raymond Brooks, Jr., and his wife, Jill, and their children Anilise and Trevor.

Linda was predeceased by her brother, Paul Brooks, and his wife, Caroline Brooks. Their children include Karen (Brooks) Brown of Anniston, Alabama (Karie’s namesake); Clinton Brooks; and Linda (Brooks) Nolan (Linda’s namesake) and her husband, Shane Nolen, of Mobile, Alabama, all of whom were very dear to Linda’s heart.

Linda is also survived by loving members of her husband James’ family, including his brother, Louis Landry, and his wife, Gwendolyn; his sister, Jackie, and her husband, Jack Merrill; and his sister, Carol Ratcliffe, all of Claremont, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her husband James’ parents, Albert “Pepe” Landry and Yvonne “Meme” Bourgeois Landry.

She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, her beloved honorary daughter, Pamela Steinke Matheson, and countless friends, many of whom she considered family.

Linda’s life was one of faith, family, friendship, music, laughter, and extraordinary generosity. She gave so much of herself to others, never asking for anything in return except the joy of their company. Her kindness and love will live on through her family, her friends, her former students, and the countless lives she touched throughout her 79 years.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Visiting hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont on Wednesday, October 28th from 4-6PM. A memorial service at Stringer Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29th at 1PM. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
