Linda Parker died peacefully, after a brave struggle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family on the 2nd of June.

Linda Parker was born in New London, Connecticut on December 25, 1947, daughter of Alfred and Rosalie (Longo) Shafer. Linda leaves behind her sisters Kim Shafer (Bob Ranck) of Mystic, Connecticut and Nicki Beaudry (Bob Maurice) of New London, Connecticut. She is survived by her loving husband, Brian Patrick Mower, her three devoted children, Wade Parker of Maui, HI, Chad Parker of Boston, MA and Gwen (John) Cesere of Scarborough, Maine, her four precious granddaughters Parker Rose, Rae Ella, Mattie Reese and Dylan Joy, and two step daughters Kate Knapp (Travis) and sons, TJ and Patrick, of Morrisville, VT, and Dail Jenkins (Garon) of Ascutney, VT, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, many, many friends and associates.

Linda made her home in Vermont for nearly fifty years, living in Weathersfield, Brownsville and Windsor.   She was a popular figure in Windsor having taught multiple grade levels for 45 years, retiring in 2013.  She was a natural born leader and received numerous educational awards including UVM Outstanding Vermont Teacher Award, The Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST) where she traveled to Washington D. C. to meet President Clinton. Also, she earned her National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certificate.  She received her education at Mitchell College and American International College, and a M. Ed. from Antioch College and a M. Ed. in Math Curriculum and Assessment from the University of Vermont.  She worked for the VT Department of Education creating assessment materials in mathematics for school districts along with teaching courses at St. Michaels and Antioch College.

Linda contributed much time to her community, cooking for the Baked Bean Suppers, working at Mt. Ascutney Ski Area, walking dogs at the Humane Society and foster parenting children that needed stability.  She enjoyed sewing, crafting, fishing, gardening, cooking and travel, especially her trips to Florida, Hawaii, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Australia and Italy.  Most of all she loved being with her family.
