Marcella June Birch, Marcy to her family and friends, was born in Bronx NY November 24, 1932, the daughter of Richard and Mabel (Edd) Rapelye. She lived in Charlestown from 1980 to 2022, when she moved to Claremont. In May 2025 she became a resident at Cedar Hill Assisted Living in Windsor VT. Prior to Charlestown she had lived in Connecticut for 25 years where she worked at Arrowhead Security systems in New Milford. She retired in 1991 from the Fall Mountain Regional School District where she was a bus driver for five years and a custodian for ten years. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church before it's closing and volunteered at the Charlestown Senior Meals.

She was the widow of Leon E. Birch (Sonny) whom she married December 31, 1972. Leon passed away December 15, 1984. She was also pre-deceased by her son Richard "Budd" Gaspar of San Francisco CA, her daughter Loretta Elizabeth Gallegos and her husband Patrick Gallegos of Henderson NV, her sister, Ellen, of Jupiter FL and brothers Robert and Richard of Rochester NY.

The surviving family includes three sons; John Gaspar and his Partner, Jane Brodeur, of Cornish NH, Stephen Gaspar and his wife, Sylvia, of Mayfield KY, Ralph "Ricky" Birch and his wife, Georgianna, of Thomaston CT and Angie Birch, a very special granddaughter who devoted much time and effort caring for Marcy. She is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main St., Wednesday, November 19th from 10am to 11am with a service at 11am. Burial will be at Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown at 1:00pm Thursday November 20th.

Marcy's family extends a warm and grateful "THANK YOU" to all her neighbors at Hillside Terrace Apartments for their help in "keeping an eye" on her and being such special friends.
