Michael E. Kathan, 53, of Claremont, NH, passed away unexpectedly at VRH on January 1, 2023.

He was born in Claremont, NH on December 23, 1969.

Mikey resided most of his life in Claremont, the past 13 years with his fiancé, Carol Scott.

He had worked many jobs in the past, but he enjoyed his recent job at Sheehan and Sons Lumber for the last 8 years with his cousin, Danny Upton JR.

Mikey loved helping people even if he didn't know them. Overall, he was a hard worker and a great guy. He had a heart of gold. Mikey never went looking for problems, he liked fixing things and finding solutions.

Mikey enjoyed working on vehicles and building models. He also loved playing with his grandson, Kaiden. Kaiden would bring out inner child in Mikey, they loved playing remote control cars. Kaiden loved to take pop pops hats, then Mike would chase him around they both loved fireworks, cookouts and the fire pit. Mikey also loved Nascar, football, going on trips, and talking to the guys on the CB radio. He loved his cat, Lilly and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Kathan; his brother, Richard Kathan; nephew, Jason Robinson, stepfather, Frank Hooper; uncle, Danny Upton Sr. and step grandchild, Kaleb Dio.

Surviving family includes his mother, Leona Hooper of VA; brother, Jim Kathan and his girlfriend, Sally Lamb of VA, and sister, Nancy Farmer and her husband, Joe of NC; his daughter, Dana Kathan and her wife, Jordan of NH; his fiancé, Carol Scott and her children, Kevin Scott and Shauna Martzolf of NH, Jonathan Scott of VA; grandson, Kaiden Scott of NH, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and step siblings.

There will be no services at this time

There will be a Celebration of life at a later date when it warms up, we will be doing a cookout with a bonfire. Mikey loved grilling and the smell of wood burning in the fire pit.
