Michael Wilson Ranney, 72, of Cornish, NH died suddenly July 14, 2021, in a tragic accident at his home in Cornish.

He was born is Windsor, VT Nov. 1, 1948, the son of Herbert H. Ranney and Mary Wilson Ranney.

Mike graduated from Windsor High in 1967 and following graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was proud to be a Marine and as "Once a Marine, always a Marine", he lived his life to Marine Standards.

After his service, he returned to the Windsor/Cornish area where he met and married his soul mate Janice (Pederson) Ranney. Mike worked for Cone Blanchard Machine Co. for 35 years until the company closed.  He mastered many skills of machine operating, electrical maintenance, reading blueprints, testing and tooling machinery. After Cone's closing, he worked for Monadnock Forest Products, Thermadyne Manufacturing, and Latva Machine where he retired from in 2013.

Family was everything to Mike. He is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Janice (Pederson) Ranney, his son Jeffrey and wife Heather, his son Justin and wife Christy and two grandsons Tyler and Jackson. Mike also had two sisters, Deb Rowlee and (the late) Patricia Dow, as well as a brother-in-law Stephen Dow and nephews James Dow, Jason Dow, Joel Dow and Dylan Rowlee.

Mike enjoyed spending any free time he had with Jan, his sons and grandsons. Mike had a tremendous love of the outdoors which he passed on to his sons and grandsons. He had a love for animals, he loved dogs and rescued many over the years that were his constant companions, particularly Tank a rescued pit bull that was always at his side.

Mike was his family's hero and gentle giant. He was a truly doting husband, he was caring, strong, honest and courageous. Mike was always there to help others in need, family, friends, or even a stranger stuck in the snow, he would be there. Mike was a steadfast believer in right and wrong and never wavered from what he felt was right. Mike had a hidden sense of humor few beyond his family were lucky enough to see.

As a dear family member once said, now that Mike has gone before us, this leaves us with a lesson to be learned from him… If we follow in Mike's footsteps and carry on all of the good qualities that he had, that the Lord may watch over us and step in to spare us from the inevitable aging process as a reward for being such a fine person.
