Omer Charles Ahern, Jr, 71, passed away on March 24, 2026.   He was born in Plymouth on December 30, 1954, the son of Omer Charles and Rosa C (Cannistraro) Ahern, Sr.

He graduated from Stevens High School in 1972 and went on to St Anselm's College where he graduated with a BA in History.  He attended and received a JD Degree from Gonzaga University of Law in Spokane, WA, passing the Bar in October of 1979 and opening his own Law Office.

Omer was President of the Charlestown Rotary Club during the 1990's, moving to the Belmont Rotary Club in 1999 and served until 2004.  A longtime Rotarian, he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow.  He served the people of New Hampshire as a State Representative in the New Hampshire State Legislature; as a Sullivan County Commissioner; as the Town Moderator for the Town of Charlestown, Sullivan County; as a member of the Plymouth Zoning Board; as a member of the Wentworth Select Board; as a member of the Wentworth Planning Board; and as a Grafton County Commissioner.   In addition, he was a member of several not-for-profit organizations within the State of New Hampshire over the last 45 years.  Omer was a NH youth sports coach for soccer and basketball and a NH certified referee for soccer and basketball.  Omer was a "Life Member" of the School District Governance Association of New Hampshire.

Omer was a "founding 603 Alliance Board" member.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Omer is survived by his wife, Susan Ahern of Concord, NH,  sons, Christopher Ahern of Epsom, NH and Patrick Ahern and wife Cate of Canterbury, NH; daughters Sarah Ahern and husband Michael Shaw of Concord and Laura Ahern and partner Jason Harris of Aukland, NZ; 9 grandchildren;  brothers, Stephen Ahern and wife Abbie of Starksboro, VT., Michael Ahern and partner Tracey Robbins of Plymouth;  sisters, Kathy Drexel and husband Peter, Karen Marie Arel and husband Gerald, Karlene Lawrence and husband Edward and Kristine Kidder and partner Arnold Howard, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish, St Matthews Catholic Church, 11 School Street in Plymouth on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 am.
