Rachel K. VanGuilder, 88, passed away March 25, 2024 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH, after a brief struggle with dementia and failing health.

She was born May 18, 1935 in South Royalton, VT to Iliff and Ethel (Clark) Lurvey.

Rachel married Clarence VanGuilder on July 26, 1952.  She worked various jobs which included, Good Year and Tip Top Bakery.  She was a member of Charlestown Memorial VFW Auxiliary 8497.  She enjoyed her family and friends, fishing, cooking, crocheting, and bingo.

Rachel was predeceased by her husband, their son, Clarence Jr. (Goose), a daughter, Maureen, granddaughter, Shena Nolan, and grandson, Gary VanGuilder.  She was the last of her family having been predeceased by siblings, Donald, Robert, Walter, Viola, Irene, Pauline, Arlene, and Barbara.

She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Ann (Brian) Manning of Charlestown, Brenda (Michal) Lurvey of Lebanon, and Arlene (Clarence) Gee of Claremont.  She leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday, March 29th from 4 to 6PM.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the East Randolph Cemetery.
