Richard "Dicky" Babbitt passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital on January 18, 2024, at the age of 77 surrounded by his family. Richard was born on May 29, 1946, in Newport, NH, to Ernest J. and Bernadette F. (Richard) Babbitt. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Norbert Babbitt and a sister Lucille Babbitt. He is survived by his children, Tina Waterman, her husband Stanley of Claremont, NH and their children, Stanley Waterman IV of Newport, NH; Kyle Waterman of Claremont, NH; Aaron Waterman of Claremont, NH; Jennifer Robie of Charlestown, NH; Mark Babbitt of Bradford, VT; and Kevin Babbitt.

Richard was employed by Sturm Ruger, Inc. for almost 20 years until he discovered he had a passion for restoring furniture. Richard was self-employed as an upholsterer from 1987 to 2016 when he retired. Richard's hobbies included drag racing with his son-in-law Stanley and creating beautiful oil paintings. Richard resided with his daughter Tina and her family in Claremont, NH for over 15 years until his passing. Richard's unmatched personality and quick wit will be missed by his family and those that knew him.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Valley Regional Hospital for their devotion and care provided to Richard in the final days. At the request of Richard, no services will be held. Donations may be made in Richard's name to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
