Richard (Dick) Westney Jr., born February 21,1968, of Charlestown/North Walpole, NH passed away on May 1, 2024, after a long fight against diabetes. Dick was the son of Richard & Susan (Martin) Westney Sr. of North Walpole.

Dick married his soulmate, Michele (Corliss) Westney, on a beautiful fall day in September of 2004 at Alyson's Orchard. Michele was his steady rock throughout their life together, "You're Still the One". Michele and Dick raised 4 terrific children. He leaves behind Adam Westney of North Walpole, Derek McNamara of Claremont, Ashley (McNamara) Delea and husband Eric of Keene and Lindsey Westney of Charlestown. He also leaves behind his father, Richard Westney Sr. of North Walpole, his brother, Shawn Westney and wife Tammy of Rockingham, VT, his sister, Jennifer Marandino and husband Bruce of Charlestown, brother in-law Robert (BJ) Corliss and wife Vicki of Claremont, in-laws Robert (Bob) & Sandi Corliss of Claremont, grandsons, Declan and Henry, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Dick began his life in Charlestown, where he was a hellion and kept his parents hopping. At the age of 6 he moved to North Walpole, where he lived in the family home until he built a home of his own along the Connecticut River. Dick moved to Charlestown after meeting Michele and that is where he spent the rest of his life.

Dick wore many hats throughout his life, but most of all, he enjoyed the communities he lived in. Charlestown He was a machinist, sales representative, and NREMT-ID. Dick was a Fire Fighter and the Chief of the North Walpole Fire Department, he was on the Walpole Ambulance and Charlestown Ambulance as well as the Charlestown Police Department. He ended his career where it began in 1989, as a Detective Seargeant with Walpole Police.

Dick managed the Charlestown Food Shelf for many years and served on many boards of directors and committees for multiple community organizations, including Old #4 Rod, Gun & Snowmobile Club, Charlestown Old Home Day Committee, Charlestown Town Hall Committee, Fall Mountain Food Shelf, Friendly Meals Board of Directors, and several other committees. Because of his loss of vision, Dick started different community Facebook pages (which were very popular) to keep up with current events, news, and updates within the towns he lived and grew up in. He became known as the "self-proclaimed Mayor of Charlestown".

Prior to losing most of his eyesight, Dick enjoyed all outdoor activities. He liked spending time camping, fishing, shooting/hunting, and sports games with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Dick was predeceased by his mother, Susan Westney, maternal grandparents Francis and Irene (Vincent) Martin, and his paternal grandparents, Herman and Mary Jane (Cashman) Kinney and Ellsworth Westney.

Dick does not want a grieving session, but a celebration of his life. He wants to give family and friends a place to laugh and share stories and memories. If you knew him, you have a story to share.  He always said, "when you think you have it rough, look around, there's always someone having it rougher".
