Richard Paul Paskerta Sr. also known as "Pops" to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, in Unity, NH.  He was born on June 1st, 1935 in Passaic, NJ and lived in Garfield, NJ till 1972 when he moved to Charlestown, NH.

He was a loving and devoted husband who cared deeply for his family.  Rich enjoyed spending time with his family, reading the newspaper, and occasionally trying his luck at the casino.  Rich proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer from 1952 to 1956, serving on the 861 USS Hardwood destroyer.  He was a devoted member of the VFW for 42 years.  After leaving the Navy, Rich spent 16 years perfecting his craft as a cabinetmaker.  In 1972, he moved to Charlestown, NH with the hope of opening his own business and providing a better life for his family.  One year later, Rich was able to see his plan through opening Richard's Cabinet Shop which later became Norwood Custom Cabinetry.  Over the next 29 years, Rich grew from 1 man operating in a 400 square foot former print shop, to a 32-employee family business utilizing 38,000 square feet in the CEDA industrial park (Charlestown NH).  He took so much pride in his employees, they nicknamed him "Pops", many of which became lifelong friends. When he retired in 2002, he had built a reputation throughout New England as a master craftsman and respected businessman.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret (Buisson) Paskerta, his sister Marie Imparato of Clinton NJ, his daughter Joanne Blodgett and her husband Alan of Charlestown, NH, his son Richard Paskerta Jr and his wife Brenda of Charlestown, NH, his son Raymond Paskerta and his wife Penny of Unity, NH.   Rich's Memory lives on through his many grandchildren, Jennifer Blodgett and her partner Paul LaBarre of Claremont, NH, Alicia Flaig and her husband Ricky of Newport, NH, Michelle Fisk and her husband Clayton of Unity, NH, Patricia Paskerta of Bishop, CA, and Danielle Allard and her husband Tyler of Charlestown, NH.  He also had the joy of being a great grandfather to Rylee and Natalie Blodgett, Joseph and Julianna Flaig, Wyatt and Finlee Fisk, and Addison Allard.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Paskerta and his grandson, Jeffrey Alan Blodgett.

There will be calling hours on Friday evening, January 12th from 5pm-7pm at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street Charlestown, NH. Services will be held on Saturday morning January 13th at 11am at the Chapel with a celebration of life to follow at the VFW. Burial will be the spring.
