Rita Rosemary Parent passed away on March 20, 2023 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H.  She was born on September 9, 1926, the daughter of Alexander and Mary Gendron.  She graduated from Stevens High School on June 14, 1945.  Rita married Robert A. Parent, her husband of 48 years, of Claremont on September 14, 1946 at St. Mary's Church.

Rita worked in a number of places including the Encore Shoe Co. and Hampshire Manufacturing in Claremont and Sylvania Lighting in Hillsborough.  She also volunteered at the Claremont Soup Kitchen for many years; and was likewise active in the Altar Society at St. Joseph's parish during those same years.

Rita enjoyed cooking, particularly big holiday feasts.  She loved puzzles, reading, and never missed Jeopardy.  She loved people, had many friends, and loved each and every one.

She is survived by her eldest son Douglas and his wife Catherine, and her younger son William and his partner Sandra Warren.  She is also survived by a granddaughter and a grandson.  She was predeceased by her sisters Florine Cote, Jeanette Fortin, and Edna Mayo; and by her brother George Gendron.

There will be no visiting hours, but a funeral Mass will be held April 22 at 10:30 A.M. at St Joseph's Church, followed by the burial ceremony at St Mary's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. or to the Alzheimer's Association.
