Robert Gordon Peterson (aged 94) died peacefully at his home in Charlestown NH on June 5, 2025.

Bob was born September 16,1930 in Claremont, NH to Clarence and Lillian (Plamondon) Peterson and graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont in 1949. He skied with the varsity team for 3 years and was Captain of the Track team his senior year. He remained active in alumni events with classmates throughout his life.

Bob served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and received Korean Service and United Nations Service medals while assigned with the 463rd Supply Squadron during the Korean War stationed in Korea and Japan. He was patriotic and held great reverence for veterans and their service. In 2016 Bob visited the D-Day landing beaches of Normandy and in 2019 Bob was invited to attend an Honor Flight to Washington DC to honor his years of service.

After discharge in 1953 Bob returned to Claremont and began a long career at Joy Manufacturing where he met his wife, Marianne Schumann. They married August 17, 1957, and settled in Claremont. A work transfer with Joy facilitated a move to Salt Lake City, Utah and an eventual return to Charlestown, NH in 1966. Bob and Marianne lived in Charlestown for the remainder of their lives and have one daughter, Elizabeth Marianne Peterson, who resides in Paris, France.

Bob was inquisitive and enjoyed a variety of interests and hobbies. While living in Utah Bob white water rafted in national parks in the southwest. In NH he hiked local mountains, kayaked in nearby lakes and rivers, played golf. He kayaked well into his early 80's and lost count of the number of times he hiked Mount Ascutney.

Bob enjoyed listening to jazz, and recounted stories of his early days listening to live shows of the big bands in the 50's and 60's. In his later years he would drive throughout the area to listen to favorite musicians and bands.

Remembered for his quick, dry wit and curiosity, Bob was eager to try new things and meet new people. He enjoyed traveling locally and worldwide.

Bob is predeceased by his wife Marianne, his parents and sister Jean and is survived by his daughter Elizabeth and nieces and nephews. A private service was held graveside.
