Ronald G Perra Jr. passed away peacefully at home, December 30, 2022, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Northfield, Vermont, June 23, 1948, Ron lived most of his life in Newport, graduating from Newport High School in 1967. As an athlete, he was a high school baseball catcher who went on to play in adult softball leagues for many years. He loved the Red Sox and Fisher Cats and attended games every summer. He also loved long rides in his convertible

Ron is best known for his position as General Manager of Dartmouth Motors GMC in Newport for many years. In high school, Ron worked at Shop Rite Supermarket and Kelley's Drug Store on Main Street, Newport. It was a job at Montgomery Ward in Claremont, where he met his first wife, Anne Denis. They were married November 4,1972 until her passing on September 4, 2001.  He later worked for Smith Auto and Miller Auto in Lebanon, then Fairfield Auto in Keene, New Hampshire.

For the past thirty three years, Ron and his family have been integral members of The Willey-Perra Community Christmas Giving Program Board of Directors. He joined the Willey family in 1989 on the passing of Jim Willey, who started the Christmas giving in 1981. For many years, the Give Day was held at Dartmouth Motors. The program added the Perra name in honor of Anne for all the help she gave until her passing. Only three weeks ago, Ron realized his goal of attending the Red Star Baton Twirlers' Christmas Show at The Newport Opera House, one of the largest fundraisers for the Christmas Program. There, he was surprised with an award plaque commemorating his dedication to Newport's needy children.

He met another goal to spend Christmas with his family which includes his beloved wife of three years, Ellen(Marcotte- Crowe); daughters Jessica and husband Joel Snelling, Charlestown, NH, Laura and her husband Matthew Brovender, Norwalk, Ct., son, Brian, Sunapee; granddaughters Chloe and Callie Snelling.  He is also survived by brothers Michael, Sunapee, NH; David and Scott, Manchester, NH; Steven, Bradford, Vermont; sister Andrea Hadfield, Fort Fairfield, Maine; brother in law Stephen Denis, nieces, nephews and his beloved dachshund, Mason.   Ron was predeceased by his parents Ronald Perra Sr. and Marjorie (Yearman) Perra, as well as his first wife, Anne(Denis) Perra.

An afternoon to honor Ron will take place at The Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 with a prayer service at 3:00. The family wishes to thank the Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice, Stephen Denis and all who came to visit or called him, for their care and support during Ron's journey.
