Sandra Lee (LaFountain) Smith of Claremont, New Hampshire passed away on October 4,2026 at Dartmouth Medical Center in Hanover NH.

Sandra was born October 8,1946 in Newport NH to Carlon LaFountain and Marguerite (Stevens) LaFountain and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Sandra Smith graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont, New Hampshire, and went on to spend more than 25+ years building a respected career in the banking industry.

A dedicated and detail-oriented teller, Sandra was known for her warm smile, friendly service, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Throughout her career, she handled countless transactions with care and professionalism, earning the trust of her clients and building lasting relationships within the community.

Sandra and her late ex-husband, William Smith, started their family in Bennington before making their home in Charlestown, New Hampshire. While they separated around 1985, they maintained a strong friendship and remained devoted to supporting Michael and Patrick together throughout their lives.

Outside of work, Sandra found great joy in spending time with family and friends. She loved heading to the beach and cherished relaxing beach days surrounded by those she loved most. She enjoyed taking day trips around the region to visit family and friends and never missed an opportunity to decorate her home for every season and holiday, bringing warmth and joy to those around her. Sandra will be remembered for her kindness, welcoming spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Smith and his wife, Amy Smith, of Essex Junction, Vermont; her grandchildren, Jason, and Abigale; and Patrick Smith and his wife, Ashley Smith, of Reading, Vermont; and her granddaughters, Regan and Morgan and her nephews Brian Suojanen and Thomas LaFountain.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visiting hours will be on Friday October 16th, from 10AM-12 pm at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH
