Shawn Harold Patch of Newtown, Connecticut, a devoted husband, father, and community leader, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Shawn was born on November 6,1964, in Claremont, New Hampshire. He graduated from Stevens High School and went on to attend Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation. During his four years at Slippery Rock, Shawn proudly played on the university's rugby team, an experience that reflected his lifelong love of teamwork, leadership, and service.

After graduating, Shawn began his professional journey as a youth coordinator, and fitness director aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's SS Norway. His passion for helping others led him to join the YMCA for the next 35 years. As CEO of several YMCA's he spent his time rebuilding, and strengthening the organization. The mission of the YMCA was a driving force throughout Shawn's life and career.

Shawn met his beloved wife, Daphne, through the YMCA, and they were married in 1998. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two daughters, Kaitlin and Kylie, who were the light of his life. Shawn led his family with strength, love, and his wonderful sense of humor. He leaves a legacy of passion, love, steadfast faith, and determination.

Beyond his professional achievements, Shawn had a deep love for antiquing, a passion passed down from his parents that remained with him throughout his life. After retiring, he finally fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening his own store, The Thrifting Patch.

He is survived by his wife, Daphne; his daughters, Kaitlin and Kylie; his nephews, Axel, Tanner, and Wyatt; his cousins, Robyn and Jodi; his uncle, Kenny; and his lifelong friends, Joe and Brad, who were like brothers to him.

He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Norman and Linda Patch; his brothers, Rickey and Timothy Patch; his grandmother, Alice Andrewski; and other beloved family members who preceded him.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 12, at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, New Hampshire, from 10-11 a.m. with a service at 11 am. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and share their stories and memories of Shawn, this is exactly what he would have wanted.

Following the burial, family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Shawn at Taverne on the Square. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
